Mermay 2026 Days 15-21!
Welcome back! I've decided I'm going to attempt to upload weekly blogs, maybe talking about specific things, or maybe just an update about my past week. Let's hope I can stick to it!
So, this week, we’re talking about mermay again! Days 15-21! So not quite “week two” but close enough!
Day 15, Goldfish and Steampunk
Day Fifteen was goldfish and steampunk. I'm not a huge fan of how either of these turned out, but they can't all be hits!
Day 16, Modern and Octopus
Day Sixteen was modern and octopus. Modern evokes for me the idea of modern brualist and minimalist architecture and decor, which tends to be greige (grey-beige)...so I made a greige mermaid! I actually quite like both of these, despite modern being relatively boring.
Day 17, Frog and Magma
Day Seventeen was frog and magma. I love these both! Frog is a frog person with a tadpole tail. Magma/lava is just one of my favorite things to try painting, so I had a lot of fun with it, and I think it turned out well!
Day 18, Storm and Poison
Day Eighteen was storm and poison. Another set that I really like! Storm’s arm is too short, hand is too big, or both, which annoys me a little, but they still have a great energy! Poison is sad and trapped, the opposite of storm, while being far more colorful, which was really fun to paint.
Day 19, Anglerfish and Coelacanth
Day Nineteen was anglerfish and coelacanth. These are both just alright to me, though I do love the fade to dark on the bottom of the anglerfish.
Day 20, Betta Fish and Clownfish
Day Twenty was betta fish and clownfish. These both turned out decently, and I like the anemone.
Day 21, Bubbles
Day Twenty-One was bubbles. I think they’re cute!
This week also holds my youngest brother's graduation from middle school tonight, and my aunt's birthday party on Saturday! I got her a bunch of library/book themed items from Micheal’s in January when they had a “bookish” collection! She's a librarian, for context.
Anyways, that's all for this week!
